Vinton Jones – Founder, Creative Connections
Vinton Jones is a professional drummer, educator, and founder of Creative Connections, an arts education platform dedicated to cultivating creativity, discipline, and confidence through music and the arts. With a strong foundation in jazz and contemporary music, Vinton brings both performance excellence and educational expertise to every lesson. A graduate of Howard University’s Jazz Studies program, Vinton has performed with and alongside renowned artists including Jean Carne and The Jones Girls. He has also contributed to ensembles such as the Howard University Jazz Band and Bowie State University Jazz Band, developing a deep understanding of both traditional and modern musical styles.
In addition to his performance career, Vinton is an experienced music educator currently teaching elementary general music, where he specializes in rhythm development, bucket drumming, and engaging students through culturally relevant and standards-based instruction. His teaching approach emphasizes creativity, structure, and real-world musical application. As a performer, Vinton leads and collaborates with professional groups, including The Three Bears and the Vinton Jones Vibration, bringing high-level musicianship to stages across the region. Through Creative Connections, Vinton’s mission is to connect students of all ages with meaningful musical experiences, helping them build strong foundations, develop their unique voice, and grow into confident, expressive artists.
